As the title says I just purchased a good used Owatonna Mustang 440 from a client. I havent dated it yet but I did find the data tag on the right rear boom. I thought I might be able to use this little unit around the neighborhood, especially if we get snowed in.

As someone looking to add a skid steer on a modest budget to the farm, I've found several Mustang's in my price range but I'm leary based on lack of positive reviews. OMC (Owatonna Manufacturing Co.) built skid-loaders for a number of years for john Deere. If your 440 has 2 steering levers (left & right) then it is clutch controlled with variable speed belt driven, exactly the same as a JD24.

I believe it has the ford 1.6 in it. Previse owner knows nothing about it. Still have not got it running. No spark. No 12v at coil. Wiring has been chewed up. I just got done looking around, it seems that the mustang 2109 and Gehl 7810are pretty much the same machine with similar reliability issues. Sounds like there is always something small breaking on them. Buying is scary. Hi, just joined the forum, i have a late 70's Mustang 440 with a Perkins 4.108 diesel 4cy that i've owned for about 15 years, it's worked well thus far with some minor repairs.
